![]() Come to vortex with a good attitude and you will have the time of your life. I hate to see people work so hard and no one appreciates it. I am in no way affiliated with vortex other than i know a worker or two and have gone my whole life. The parking is limited on busy days but there is always kind staff to direct you to a parking spot. Plenty of room to swim as well as plenty of grass and beach sand to lay down and sun. I understand how a city slicker with a chip on their shoulder for county folks could describe this place as hell, but coming from an honest hard working, clean cut guy, this place rocks. The whole complex seems to be ran in a way that everyone’s needs are met as well as they can be. Never scuba dove but the 3-4 floating metal docks are kept clear of children playing just for divers. ![]() The management is overly talkative and helpful as well as the people swimming. The waters were nasty at one point but the park SEEMS TO HAVE DONE A COMPLETE turnaround. I personally know people who work at vortex to make ends meet and most of their time is spent breaking their back picking up cigarette butts and trash. The swings usually have workers present to help the kids as well as friendly people everywhere. Many people bring kids and there is more than enough to keep them busy. You can read the reviews and decide now if vortex is a place for you. The bonfires get a little loud and the partying last into the night on some weekends. The cabins are not new but there is nothing run down about them. You will be surrounded by blue collar hard working people drinking beer and smoking cigarettes, nothing you wouldn’t see at the beach. Vortex is not a roof top dinner and wine scene so don’t come looking for that. I work a professional job and am a single mid aged male. I have always been greeted with a smile and the best customer service in the area. Do not waste your time or energy going to this place. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest and may not be a sober, family oriented, or safety conscious-person. I can safely assure you Vortex Springs is a "conditions hazardous" attraction. Vortex Springs is a terrible shameful waste of natural beauty thanks to the slobs in management. The "waiver" you are asked to sign will NEVER stand up in a court of law (management allows too many swimmers to act dangerously placing other swimmers unintentionally in harms way). Too much alcohol and other carless folks are calling the shots. Ownership assumes a huge liability and is completely in denial of the overly obvious ultra hazardous danger folks are in mainly because the owners refuse to enforce any rules.heck there are no rules. This is a huge problem because there are no life guards in case someone is injured (which is going to happen). The swimming area is too crowded for safe swimming/boating. The swimming area is as wide as a two way street and meanders into the scuba area, which is why there are swimmers in the scuba area. There was one man running around chasing swimmers out of the scuba area however, there is only a limited amount of room to swim in and there were folks on canoes and kayaks in the swimmers area leaving very little room for "safe" swimming. It is a backwoods swimming hole with all the typical " backwoods" stereotypes running the show. There was quite a bit of underage drinking. There were insufficient staff on hand overseeing the safety of the swimmers and essentially no one was governed by any set of rules. It does not deserve to be classified as an "attraction", it is more like "repulsion"! The place was filthy. You should do yourself a favor and skip this "attraction". ![]()
